Patient Group Support

Atrial Fibrillation Association (AFA)
Sponsorship was provided to support the AFA in their regional meeting programme.
Anticoagulation Europe (ACE)
Sponsorship was provided to support policy work. This was to raise the profile of stroke prevention within the disease area of atrial fibrillation and also to raise the profile of ACE.  Patient studies development was also supported along with a distance learning pack.  Sponsorship of a speaker at conference to talk from a patient‘s perspective.
British HIV Association
Donation to support patient education.
Childrens HIV Association
To support patient education.
British Lung Foundation (BLF)
Support was given for the Industry Group and also the ‘Love Your Lungs’ campaign. An Honorarium was made for BLF speaker at the British Thoracic Society. Training support was provided for business skills which is ongoing. Support was also provided through the purchase of self-management booklets, COPD leaflets and End of Life Care booklets.
Lifeblood
Support was given for the National Thrombosis Week 2010 and included a regional tour. In addition Boehringer Ingelheim sponsored the appointment of an Education Officer to increase awareness of venous thromboembolism. Support was also provided for a Patient Safety Breakfast Meeting where Boehringer Ingelheim was a part sponsor with Bayer Schering and Sanofi Aventis.
Menopause Matters
Grant towards the cost of updating and maintaining website. Website is clinician led and aims to provide easily accessible, up to date and accurate information about the menopause, menopausal symptoms and treatment options including HRT and alternative therapies so that women and health care professionals can make informed choices about menopause management.
National HIV Nurses Association
To support patient education.
Parkinson’s UK
A donation towards materials to raise awareness of and provide information on Parkinson’s Disease to health care professionals and people with Parkinson’s Disease.
The Roy Castle Foundation
Support was provided for the Lung Cancer GP QOF project to improve the early diagnosis of lung cancer.
Sexual Dysfunction Association (SDA)
For sexual awareness day, Feb 2010. Viral internet marketing campaign to raise awareness of SDA amongst general public and drive interest in SDA website. Financial support towards organisation of event including writing, filming, producing materials and all publicity.
Stroke Association
The UK Stroke Forum and atrial fibrillation related activities (Factsheets and conference) were supported as well as sponsorship of the Royal Lecture which is an annual event.
